SW Herman Road Improvements

Project Details

The City of Tualatin’s Herman Road Improvements project was developed to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, manage stormwater, and engage residents.  The project extended from Teton Avenue to Tualatin Road, a corridor that experienced heavy traffic and flooding and often had to be closed during the rainy season.  The existing stormwater infrastructure included roadside ditches and undersized culverts resulting in frequent flooding.  The roadway improvements included buffered bike lanes, a center left-turn lane, and sidewalks.  The roadside ditches were replaced with 4,300 square feet of street-side infiltration planters that reduced flooding frequency while also providing stormwater quality and quantity control to the extent possible within the constrained right-of-way.
